    Health and Safety Officer
    Osgoode (Ottawa), Ontario

    ASL Agrodrain Limited is hiring a Health and Safety Officer.

    Founded in 1975, ASL is a well-established multi-sector civil construction company performing Earthworks, Residential Development, Site Development, Landscaping, Forming, Geothermal, & Conservation projects.     This position is field based from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with office visits and extra hours as required.  A well-equipped vehicle is supplied for work purposes. Competitive salary based on experience.

    Major responsibilities but not limited to the following:

    • Conduct employee on-boarding safety orientations with all new employees, as well as annual WHMIS training for staff
    • Complete regular jobsite inspections and provide compliance reports to management and field supervisors
    • Monitor and manage all incoming paperwork and maintain internal database of incident and training records
    • Manage return to work cases in their entirety
    • Act as a liaison between ASL and governing bodies regulating health and safety, as well as complete necessary reports
    • Maintain health and safety boards and required postings on ASL worksites
    • Respond, investigate and follow-up on all workplace incidents.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Post-Secondary Education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field would be considered an asset
    • 3+ years’ experience in a Health and Safety role in a construction setting
    • Safety certification training (e.g., CRSP, GSC, NCSO) is considered a strong asset
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation / communication skills

    Controller

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Create, improve and maintain internal controls for accurate financial reporting and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
    • Manage and lead day to day activities related to inventory, payroll and asset management
    • Establish efficient and documented work‐flow processes and accounting policies
    • Cross‐functional collaboration to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives
    • Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
    • Lead year end review
    • Assist with the preparation of tax schedules
    • Reconciliation and posting of journal entries
    • Assisting with Month End and Year End closing
    • Insurance Policy Review and Renewals

    About You

    • The successful candidate will have the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
    • CPA required
    • At least 10 years of experience in a senior financial management role
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Strong understanding of the generally accepted accounting standards (ASPE)
    • Knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization
    • Proficiency in financial management software
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fastpaced environment
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

    We are looking for motivated and experienced concrete finishers to join our growing team. Successful candidates will have minimum 1 year experience in forming and finishing concrete.

    Job Description

    • Residential Flatwork i.e., basement, garage, and porch slabs.
    • Place, Screed, Float, and finish concrete.
    • Ensure concrete is level and to grade/depth specifications.
    • Must be able to lift and carry 60+ pounds.
    • Take part in formwork for porches (experience an asset).
    • Installing rebar, vapor barrier and expansion joint.
    • Minor concrete repairs.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 1 year experience in forming and finishing concrete.
    • Valid ‘G’ license
    • Must be reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

    Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

    We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable mechanic to join our team diagnosing and repairing late model heavy equipment. Successful candidates will have a Class D license.

    This position is field based in Ottawa on a full-time basis from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with competitive wage based on experience. A well-equipped service truck is supplied for work purposes. Our shop is located near Osgoode.

    Major responsibilities but not limited to the following:

    • Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems on a variety of equipment, as well as minor welding repairs
    • Performing diagnostic testing to identify the malfunction as well as post-repair testing to ensure it was successful
    • Preparation of accurate written repair order sheets and reports
    • Interpretation of service manuals, schematics, lube charts, repair orders, etc.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Post-Secondary Education and a Technician License (421A or 310T) is considered an asset
    • 3+ years’ relevant experience in this position
    • Caterpillar and John Deere experience would be an asset
    • Highly safety conscious and a strong technical background with high attention to detail
    • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to meet repair deadlines in a fast-paced demanding environment
    • High initiative, integrity and ability to function effectively as a team player
    • Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance software along with basic computer skills would be an asset
    • A valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
