    WORK DESCRIPTION

    The Civil AutoCAD Technician reports to the Senior Estimator. They must be motivated and hungry to learn and grow their professional career. They are expected to be self-starters who take initiative to tackle tasks with enthusiasm. This role is what the successful candidate makes of it, a great opportunity for someone to gain valuable experience estimating projects and advance their career.

    This position is predominately office based with work from home and field visits as required. Typical work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Survey Information Management
    • Process Surveys, Prepare Models, Calculate Volumes, Present Results
    • Analyze Tender Documentation, Request Surveys and Produce Tender Quantities
    • Create and Follow Estimating QC Checklists
    • Create and Maintain Take-Off Templates
    • Create and Populate Estimates

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Post-Secondary Education in a relevant program and/or 3+ years’ relevant experience
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
    • Responds well to direction with a desire to improve
    • Proficient with AutoCAD
    • Driver’s license and personal transportation

    Health and Safety Officer
    Ottawa (Osgoode), Ontario

    This position is field based from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with office visits and extra hours as required.  A well-equipped vehicle is supplied for work purposes. Competitive salary based on experience.

     

    Major responsibilities but not limited to the following:

    • Conduct employee on-boarding safety orientations with all new employees, as well as annual training
    • Complete regular jobsite inspections and provide compliance reports to management and field supervisors
    • Manage all incoming paperwork and maintain internal database of documents and records
    • Manage return to work cases in their entirety
    • Act as a liaison between ASL and governing bodies regulating health and safety, as well as complete necessary reports
    • Maintain health and safety boards and required postings
    • Respond, investigate and follow-up on all workplace incidents.

     

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Post-Secondary Education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field would be considered an asset
    • 3+ years’ experience in a Health and Safety role in a construction setting
    • Safety certification training (e.g., CRSP, GSC, NCSO) is considered a strong asset
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation / communication skills

    ASL is hiring Bulldozer, Excavator, and Wheeled Excavator Operators.

    Successful candidates will have minimum 5 years experience in residential and commercial excavation, experience with sub grading, final grade and earth moving.

    Knowledge of machine GPS, grade control and Rototilt attachment is an asset. Must be able to work anywhere within Ottawa area.
